Remember when you were little and at the area historical society every artifact was off limits. Well that time in museum stewardship has passed. The Chicago Museum Blog will reflect the new museums of today featuring what the people of Chicago want: to find the best and most interesting events, reviews, and museum news in area museums. Also, this blog wants Chicagoans to see that museums go beyond the exhibit labels, glass cases, and the watching eyes of exhibit security officers through the mantra that Museums are fun!

Being born in Ohio has a bit of stigma attached to it here in Illinois. The state is either round on both sides and high in the middle or full of corn and soybean fields. Both are true, but this is where the love of a museum addict began. After living in Ohio for 22 years, Heather moved to Chicago to pursue a master’s degree in Public History at Loyola University Chicago and graduated in 2009. For the last six years, Heather has been a part of the greater museum community in Ohio and Chicago creating an extensive chronicle with the best of the Chicago’s museum’s permanent collections and traveling exhibits to bring you a blog abounding with information for lovers of museums, art, culture, and interesting tidbits of Chicago.
Heather has worked with many museum and archival collections since leaving Ohio including the Chicago History Museum, the Swedish American Museum, the Chicago Academy of Sciences Repository, Loyola University Archives, and Naper Settlement. Her museum interests lie in education, curriculum development, theory and practice of museum, and archives. She continues her studies through blogging, writing, volunteering, and frequenting Chicago’s museums weekly.
