Museum Free Days and Discount Days 2012

Do you have a random day off from work or looking to take the kiddos somewhere? Look no further than your nearest museum free and discount days. Many of Chicago’s museum are free to Illinois residents throughout the rest of the year.

The Adler Planetarium is free September 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26 and in October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, 31.

The Chicago History Museum is free September 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27. In October the days are 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11.

The Field Museum is free September 4, 5, 9, 11, 25, 26.

The John G. Shedd Aquarium is free September 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, in October 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30 and in November 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27.

The Museum of Science and Industry is free September 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28. During October the days are 1, 2, and 3. November is the 5th and December is the 3rd.

Other museums like the Swedish American Museum is free every second Tuesday and the Peggy Notebaret Nature Museum is free every Thursday of the month. The Museum of Contemporary Art and Institute of Surgical Science are free on Tuesdays and the Chicago Children’s Museum is free every Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the first Sunday every month. The Art Institute is free every first and third Wednesday of the month.

The Dusable Museum is free every Sunday and the Glessner House and Clark House Museums give free tours on Wednesdays. Lastly, some museums are free every day such the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum, Smart Museum of Art, National Museum of Mexican Art, and the Oriental Institute.
